Ingredients
- 500g beef boti (beef chunks)
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 2 large onions, finely sliced
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Marinade Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon yogurt
- Salt to taste
Instructions
1. Marinate the Beef:
- In a bowl, mix the beef boti with turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, yogurt, and salt.
- Marinate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
2. Cooking the Beef:
- In a pressure cooker or heavy-bottomed pan, heat the oil.
- When the onions are golden brown, add the slices and continue to sauté.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies, sauté for another 2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- When the mixture starts to separate and the tomatoes go mushy, add the chopped tomatoes and simmer.
- Now, add the marinated beef boti to the pan and mix well.
- Incorporate the powders of cumin, coriander, red chile, and turmeric. Stir the beef and all the spices together.
- Cook on medium-high heat until the beef starts to brown and the spices are well blended.
- If using a pressure cooker, add about 1 cup of water, close the lid, and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles or until the beef is tender.
- If using a regular pan, add 1.5 cups of water, cover, and cook on low heat until the beef is tender and cooked through, stirring occasionally and adding water if needed.
3. Finishing Touches:
- Once the beef is cooked, increase the heat to high to dry out any excess water and let the masala coat the beef pieces well.
- Add garam masala powder and adjust salt as needed.
- Garnish with some freshly chopped or coriander leaves.
4. Serving:
- Serve hot with roti, naan, and steaming rice.
